1. Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) will assist India in developing the clean
energy infrastructure by collaborating on design and development of public private partnership (PPP) investment models for solar parks. ADB and the USAID signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on this.

2. The World Bank opened its office in Malaysia which will also serve as a global knowledge and research hub.
3. First direct container MV Harbour-1 Vessel between India and Bangladesh flagged off from Krishnapatnam.
4. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to script history by launching a record number of 22 satellites on board PSLV C34 in May this year. As many as 18 satellites are being launched for foreign agencies including those from the U.S., Canada, Germany, and Indonesia. Two of the nano-satellites have been developed by the Pune Engineering College and Sathyabhama University.
5. Reliance Defence, a part of the Anil Ambani-led group said that it is forming a joint venture in India with Rafael of Israel for air-to-air missiles, air defence systems and large aerostats, with a seed capital of over Rs.1,300 crore.
6. The Women & Child Development Minister, Smt Maneka Sanjay Gandhi launched the project of construction of a special Home for one thousand widows at Vrindavan, Mathura. The Foundation stone has been laid by the WCD Minister under the ‘Swadhar Greh Scheme’ of the WCD Ministry. This is the largest ever Home for widows established or funded by the Government.
7. Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley inaugurated Sydney Branch of Union Bank of India.
8. Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin won the FIDE World Chess Candidates Tournament held in Moscow.
9. Legendary playback singer P. Susheela has become the Guinness World Records title holder for the highest number of solo, duet and chorus backed songs in over six Indian languages.
