International Turban Day- April 13:

  • International Turban Day, observed annually on April 13th since 2004, is an occasion that celebrates Sikh Identity.
  • The event began to raise awareness about the distinct appearance of Sikhs who love and respect principles of faith which obligate keeping hair uncut and covered with a turban.
  • The 2022 Turban Day marks the 553rd birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev and the festival of Baisakhi.
  • Since 2004, on Turban Day, Sikhs worldwide organize various events to give information about the turban to the general community in their locality.
  • Turbans of every hue are represented at these events and posters highlighting information about Sikhi are also displayed and handed out.

RBI Monetary policy : Repo Rates unchanged at 4%

 

RBI Monetary policy : Repo Rates unchanged at 4%; GDP growth projected at 7.2%

What is the news:

  • RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday announced that the Central bank has kept the repo rate – the key lending rate 
  • The Governor announced the decision while delivering a statement on the first monetary policy of the new financial year.
  • The Governor informed that the real GDP growth for 2022-23 has been projected at2%.

Highlights of the RBI’s first monetary policy statement of 2022-23:

  • Policy repo rate unchanged at 4%; marginal standing facility rate & bank rate, too, remain unchanged at 4.25%.
