- Every year on October 2nd, people celebrate Gandhi Jayanti to remember the “Father of the Nation,” Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
- According to a declaration made by the United Nations General Assembly on June 15, 2007, this day is also observed as the International Day of Non-Violence.
- On October 2, 1869, Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar, a small town in Gujarat.
