Kiren Rijiju to launch ACCR web portal, 3rd version of Ayush Sanjivani App 

  • Union Minister of state (IC) for Ayush Shri Kiren Rijiju will launch the Ayush Clinical Case Repository (ACCR) portal and the third version of Ayush Sanjivani App in a virtual event.
  • The Ayush Clinical Repository (ACCR) portal (https://accr.ayush.gov.in/) will serve as a platform to support both Ayush practitioners and general public.
  • This portal aims to aggregate information about clinical outcomes achieved by Ayush practitioners on a large scale.
  • It will facilitate not just dissemination of information but also further analysis and research.
  • It is expected to document the strengths of Ayush systems for treatment of various disease conditions.
  • The Ayush Sanjivani App (Third Version) is now published on Google Play Store and iOS.
  • This version facilitates a significant study/ documentation regarding the efficacy of selected Ayush interventions, including Ayush 64 and Kabasura Kudineer medicines in the management of asymptomatic & mild to moderate Covid 19 patients.

ABOUT Ayush Sanjivani App:

  • It is developed by the Ministry of AYUSHand the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY).
  • The app intends to generate data on usage of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-rigpa and Homoeopathy) advocacies and measures among the population and its impact in prevention of Covid-19.

ICMR approves CoviSelf kit – a home testing covid kit

  • The Indian Council of Medical Research, ICMRhas approved CoviSelf kit for the purpose of home testing.
  • It stated that all symptomatic individuals who test negative by Rapid Antigen Testshould get themselves immediately tested by RT-PCR.
  • The test kit will be priced at Rs 250 and available in a pack of one.
  • Mylab current production capacity is 70 lakh tests per week and plans to increase its capacity to 1 Crore tests per week within 14 days. 
  • ICMR also stated, “The home testing mobile app is available in the Google Play Store and Apple store and must be downloaded by all users.
  • The mobile app is a comprehensive guide of the testing procedure and will provide ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ results to the patient”.

PM CARES Fund approved procurement of one lakh 50 thousand units of Oxycare system 

  • The PM CARES Fund has approved procurement of 1,50,000 units of Oxycare System developed by the Defence Research Development Organization at a cost of Rs 322.5 crores, the DRDO informed.
  • It further informed that the Oxycare System is a SpO2 based Oxygen Supply System that regulates oxygen being administered to patients based on sensed SpO2 levels.
  • “Under this sanction, 1, 00,000 manual and 50,000 automatic Oxycare systems along with NRBM (Non-rebreather mask) masks are being procured.

World Asthma Day – Observed on First Tuesday of May

  • The day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement.
  • It is also celebrated in countries in Central America, South America, and in some parts of the Caribbean.
  • In the United States, Australia, and Canada, Labor Day or Labour Day is celebrated at different times of the year.
  • India celebrated the first Labour day in the year 1923 and the day is referred nationally as Antarrashtriya Shramik Diwas or Kamgar Din.
  • Peter J. McGuire, a carpenter and labor union leader, was the person who came up with the idea for Labor Day.
  • He thought American workers should be honored with their own day.
  • He proposed his idea to New York’s Central Labor Union early in 1882, and they thought the holiday was a good idea, too.
