International Human Solidarity Day 2020: Observed on Dec 20
- International Human Solidarity Day is celebrated every year on December 20.

- International Human Solidarity Day also reiterates the importance of solidarity in removing poverty.
- The day was proclaimed by the United Nations’ (UN) General Assembly on December 22, 2005.
- According to the United Nations Millennium Declaration, solidarity is one of the fundamental values that are essential for healthy international relations.
About Solidarity
- Solidarity is an awareness of shared interests, objectives, standards, and sympathies creating a psychological sense of unity of groups or classes. It refers to the ties in a society that bind people together as one.
History of International Human Solidarity Day :
- The General Assembly, on December 22, 2005, by resolution 60/209 recognized solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values in the twenty-first century. Therefore, proclaimed December 20 of each year as International Human Solidarity Day.
