1. Indian-American Nandita Bakshi has been appointed the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of the West, a unit of French banking giant BNP Paribas.

2. An India-born academician has been named by the UN Human Rights Council as an adviser to one of its working group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises. Surya Deva has been appointed by the Geneva-based UNHRC as the Asia-Pacific representative of the UN Working Group on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises.

3. President Pranab Mukherjee honoured 56 eminent personalities with Padma awards at the Civil Investiture Ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. 9. The Haryana Cabinet passed a Bill to provide reservation in government jobs and education to Jats. The draft Bill on reservation to Jats and four other castes was cleared at a Cabinet meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Apart from this, Haryana government has also proposed to bring a separate Bill for the setting up of a permanent Haryana Backward Classes Commission.
