PM Mudra Yojana celebrates the completion of 7 years

What is the news :

The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, or PMMY, is celebrating its seventh anniversary.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the initiative on April 8, 2015, with the goal of granting loans up to ten lakh rupees to non-corporate, non-farm small, or micro-enterprises.
Since the inception of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, more than 34 crore 42 lakh loans worth 18.60 lakh crore rupees have been sanctioned as per the official statement.
Women Entrepreneurs have received around 68 percent of the total number of loans approved.
New Entrepreneurs have received nearly 22 percent of the loans.

World Homeopathy Day is observed annually on April 10 to commemorate Dr Samuel Hahnemann’s birth anniversary.

The theme, like every year, is decided by the Ministry of AYUSH.
The Homeopathy Central Council Act of 1973 established governmental recognition for the medical system in our country.

IMF lauds India’s PM garib kalyan anna yojana program

What is the news :

International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lauded India’s food subsidy program which prevented the increased prevalence of extreme poverty in the country during Covid-19.
In a report the IMF has said, the expansion of food transfers and subsidies make it an important instrument for poverty alleviation. Appreciating the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, the report demonstrated that the program provided insurance to the poor and prevented an increase in the prevalence of extreme poverty in the country.

CRPF Valour Day- 9th April:

On April 9th, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrates Valour Day (Shaurya Diwas) to tribute to the Force’s courteous personnel.
The 57th CRPF Valour Day will be held in 2022.
On this day in 1965, a small force of the CRPF made history by beating a Pakistani army that was several times larger at the Sardar Post in Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch.S, T,P, Q, R, V and W played in seven different matches in a week starting from Monday and ending on Sunday. Some of them are bowlers and some of them are batsman. Their Run/Wickets in the seven matches are – 50, 5, 4, 16, 8, 4 and 25. The Jersey number of all players are – 12, 54, 77, 55, 16, 4 and 13
V plays on Thursday. Two matches are played between the matches played by player V and player P. On the first day of the week, the batsman scored half century played in the match. The sum of Runs/Wickets of the player W and Q is equaled to the Runs/Wickets of S. All the bowlers should be preceded and succeeded by batsman and T is the only bowler which cannot be succeeded by any one.

The player who played match on Tuesday has the Jersey number, which is the square of Jersey number of Player T. P is the only batsman which is followed by another batsman. Only one match is played between the matches played by the player T and S. The score of the batsman who played the match on Thursday is the perfect square of the score of the player who played on Saturday. The match played by T is not played on the day immediately before or immediately after the day when the match of player V is played. The score of the batsman who played the match on Tuesday is the perfect square of the score of the player who played on Sunday. The match played by R is played on the day immediately before the day when the match of player W is played. Match played by S is not played after the match of player Q. The player who played match on Monday has the Jersey number which can be divided by 11. The player who has 54 as a Jersey number did not play on Friday. The player V has the consecutive Jersey number of W while the player who played match on Saturday has the consecutive Jersey number of the player who played match on Friday.
The CRPF forces killed 34 Pakistani soldiers and kidnapped four others.
Six members of the CRPF were martyred during the violence.
The Central Reserve Police Force is India’s largest Central Armed Police Force.
It functions under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India.
The CRPF’s primary role lies in assisting the State/Union Territories in police operations to maintain law and order and counter-insurgency.

April 7 is celebrated and observed as World Health Day.

World Health Day was one of the first official acts of the World Health Organization, which came into force on 7th April 1948.

In order to understand the history of World Health Day, it is important to look at the creation of the World Health Organization, which took place in 1945 at the United Nations Conference.

The year 2022 marks the third edition of the celebrations.

SEBI panel on governance of stock exchanges

What is the news :

Capital markets regulator SEBI on Monday constituted a committee for reviewing and making recommendations for further strengthening of governance norms at stock exchanges and other market infrastructure institutions (MIIs).
The development comes in the backdrop of alleged corporate governance lapses at NSE, with several issues coming to the fore following a SEBI order that disclosed existence of a ‘Himalayan yogi’ who influenced the decisions of the exchange’s former MD and CEO Chitra Ramkrishna.
Apart from this, Ramkrishna had shared certain internal confidential information, including financial and business plans of NSE, dividend scenario, financial results with the yogi and even consulted him over the performance appraisals of the exchange’s employees.

The environment ministry announces the launch of the PRAKRITI green initiative

The Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav launched ‘Prakriti’, a mascotto spread greater awareness among masses about small changes that can be sustainably adopt in our lifestyle for a better environment, and various green initiatives taken by Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to ensure effective Plastic Waste Management (PWM) in the country, in the presence of Minister of State, Shri Ashwini Kumar Choubey and senior officials of the government.

IDRCL: stakes of canara bank, SBI, PNB, union bank reduced to 5%

What is the news:

Four public sector lenders — State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank and Union Bank of India said their stakes in India Debt Resolution Company Ltd (IDRCL) have come down to 5 per cent each.
The bad bank or the National Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd (NARCL) will acquire bad loans from banks to help clean up their books, while the IDRCL will handle the debt resolution process of these loans.
With the current round of preferential allotment by IDRCL, equity stake of Canara Bank has now reduced to 5 per cent from previous holding of 14.90 per cent, the bank said in a regulatory filing.

Indian oil L &T renew partnership for green hydrogen

To enable decarbonization push, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), ReNew Power announced signing of a binding term sheet for the formation of a Joint Venture (JV) company to develop the nascent green hydrogen sector in India.
Additionally, IndianOil and L&T have signed a binding term sheet to form a JV with equity participation to manufacture and sell Electrolyzers used in the production of Green Hydrogen.

About the Partnership :

The IndianOil-L&T-ReNew JV will focus on developing Green Hydrogen projects in a time-bound manner to supply Green Hydrogen at an industrial scale.

What is the news :

CJI N.V. Ramana launches digital platform ‘Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records’
Days of endless waiting to get a hard copy of a Supreme Court order is over.
Now, all it takes for the court to do is a soft tap of the ‘send’ button and, may be, a couple of blinks of the eye after with ‘FASTER’, an abbreviation of ‘Fast and Secured Transmission of Electronic Records’, a digital platform formally launched by Chief Justice of India (CJI) N.V. Ramana .
The platform would be used by the court officials to instantly to send e-copies of the orders through a secured electronic communication channel to intended parties.
These orders may vary from stay of execution of a person to freeze on the demolition of a slum to bail orders for undertrial prisoners.

SBI signs MoU with border security force to offer special benefits through CAPSP scheme

Country’s largest Bank, State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Border Security Force to offer special benefits to the serving and retired BSF personnel and family pensioners through the Central Armed Police Salary Package (CAPSP) Scheme.

About the MoU:

The MoU will ensure extensive benefits to the security forces including complimentary Personal and Air Accidental Insurance (Death) cover, additional cover in case of on-duty death, and Permanent Total Disability / Partial Disability cover.
The MoU will support child education and the marriage of girl children of deceased BSF personnel.
The retired personnel will be eligible for complimentary Personal Accidental (Death) Insurance, irrespective of age, whereas family pensioners will be eligible for a bouquet of benefits.

HDFC Limited will merge with HDFC Bank, creating a banking behemoth.
The merger is set to make the company the third most valuable in the country.
HDFC will acquire a 41 percent stake in HDFC Bank through the transformational merger.
HDFC Limited Chairman Deepak Parekh has described it as a merger of equals. He said mergers will enhance diversity of assets of the combined entity. Mr. Parekh said, this merger will help expand the customer base and build a product portfolio in the housing loan category.

HDFC Bank has been adjudged Best Performing Bank in SHG Linkage by National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Ministry of Rural Development, Govt of India.
At a function organised at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, the award was presented by Shri Giriraj Singh, Minister of Rural Development to Mr. K Venkatesh, Head – Sustainable Livelihood Initiative, HDFC Bank.
Notably, HDFC Bank was the only Private Bank to be felicitated for remarkable work in SHGs – by the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).

RBI fixes WMA limit for states at Rs. 47010 crore.

What is the news:

The limits for financial accommodation extended by the Reserve Bank of India to State Governments / Union Territories (UTs) through Ways and Means Advances (WMA), Special Drawing Facility (SDF) and Overdraft (OD) schemes were last reviewed and announcedin October 2021.
Considering the uncertainties related to the ongoing pandemic, it was decided to continue with the higher WMA limit of ₹51,560 crore for all States, by a further period of six months i.e., up to March 31, 2022.
On a review of the limits and keeping in view the gradual lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, it has been decided to revert to the WMA limits and timelines for OD for State Governments / UTs as recommended by the Advisory Committee on Ways and Means Advances to State Governments .
These norms will be effective from April 01, 2022 and are subject to review.

Maharashtra launches scheme to offer personal loans for prisoners

What is the news :

Maharashtra government launched a scheme to provide personal loans for prisoners with the aim to improve the living standard of the families of the inmates.
The Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank will give loans under the scheme up to Rs 50,000 at an interest rate of 7 per cent.
The scheme will be implemented on a pilot basis at Yerawada Central Jail, Pune.
Home minister of Maharashtra – Dilip Walse Patil.

About the scheme :

It is the first innovative loan scheme in the country to get a loan based on the income earned while working in a prison.
With this, a welfare scheme can come in concrete form and approximately 1,055 prisoners can benefit from the scheme. Many inmates are serving long-term imprisonment.

Simple Interest:

Formula:

1) SI = P x R x T/100

2) Principal = Simple Interest ×100/ R × T

3) Rate of Interest = Simple Interest ×100 / P × T

4) Time = Simple Interest ×100 / P × R

5) If the rate of Simple interest differs from year to year, then

Simple Interest = Principal × (R1+R2+ R3…..)/100

The four variables in the above formula are: SI=Simple Interest P=Principal Amount (This the amount invested)T=Number of yearsR=Rate of interest (per year) in percentage

1). A sum of money is divided into n parts in such a way that the interest on the first part at r₁% for t₁ years, on the second part at r₂% for t₂ years, on the third part at r₃% for t₃years, and so on, are equal. Then the ratio in which the sum is divided in n part is:

1/r₁×t₁: 1/r₂ ×t₂: 1/r₃×t₃

Example:

A sum of Rs 7700 is lent out in two parts in such a way that the interest on one part at 20% for 5 yr is equal to that on another part at 9% for 6 yr. Find the two sums.

Solution:

Here, R1 = 20% R2 = 9%

T1 = 5 yr T2 = 6 yr

By using formula, ratio of two sums = 1/100 : 1/54 = 27 : 50

Therefore, first part = [27/(27+50)]*7700 = Rs 2700

Second part = [50/(27+50)]*7700 = Rs 5000

2). Amount = Principal + S.I = p + [(p x r x t)/100]

Odisha Day or Utkal Divas- 1st April 2022:

The foundation day of Odisha, known as Odisha Day, or Utkal Diwas will be observed on 1st April.
The state of Odisha got its own identity as a separate state in the year 1936, after disassociating itself from Bihar and Bengal.
The state was originally called Orissa but the Lok Sabha passed the Orissa Bill, and Constitution Bill (113rd amendment), in March 2011 to rename it Odisha.
