Excellence extends its well-wishes to you all on this glorious occasion of 73rd Independence Day of India.

The great day of 15th August is celebrated by every Indian irrespective of his religion, caste, creed or region. Today we have freedom in almost all aspects of our lives, be it education or economy.  But there was no such situation before 1947 because the British were ruling over us. Thousands of freedom fighters sacrificed their lives so that our country can celebrate this day.

The freedom fighters gave many slogans that motivated the lakhs of Indians to join them in the freedom movement. Some of these slogans are worth recalling on the eve of Independence Day:

Vande Mataram: Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay

'Jai Hind': Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

'Swaraj Mera Janamsiddha adhikar hai, aur main ise laker rahoonga': coined by Kaka Baptista and adopted by Bal Gangadhar Tilak

'Satyameva Jayathe': popularized by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya

'Inquilab Zindabad: coined by Muslim Leader Hasrat Mohani and stands synonymous with Bhagat Singh

'Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna, Ab hamare dil mein hai': a patriotic poem by Bismil Azimabadi and used as a slogan by Ramprasad Bismil.

On the 15th of August, the Prime minister of India (Narendra Modi) hoists the Indian flag on the Red Fort, Delhi. After the flag hoisting, National Anthem song is sung and 21 gunshots are fired to salute and honour the Indian flag and solemn occasion. The prime minister of India pays tribute to the freedom fighters and leaders of the Indian independence movement who had sacrificed their lives. The Prime Minister also highlights all the achievements of the past year, important social issues, steps taken further development in the country etc during his speech on Independence Day.

All over India, this big day is celebrated in a grand manner. In schools, colleges, and offices, Indian Flag is hoisted, cultural events are organized and sweets are distributed on this day. We remember Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi and all those freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence of our country.

Now it's our time to acquire a sense of responsibility towards the development of our beloved country. We can give our small contribution by becoming a responsible citizen. Let us take a pledge to protect the peace and unity of our great nation.
