Reading comprehensions are most important part of English section. RCs test your reading speed and grasping ability. While in an exam there can be RCs from sports, fiction, non-fiction, economics or even history. You should be comfortable with any topic

2) If you don't know the basic grammar rules then don't feel ashamed of reading a VIIIth NCERT. It's better to improve then to avoid.exam
