1. President Pranab Mukherjee honored 30 scholars in different languages for their contribution. He awarded Certificates of Honour to eminent scholars and the Maharishi Badrayan Vyas Samman for the year 2015.

2. The Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley and Ms. Christine Lagarde, Managing Director, International Monetary Fund (IMF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Center in New Delhi.

3. Mr Vishvas Vidu has been appointed as next High Commissioner of India to Fiji. Vidu is presently Deputy Chief of Mission in Indian embassy in Cairo.

4. The Indian government has announced that it will invest INR 69,575 crore (£7.3 billion) to increase its investment quota in the International Monetary Fund (IMF), making India one of the top ten largest members of the Fund. With the implementation of the long-pending quota reforms India, Brazil, China and Russia — would be, for the first time, among the 10 largest members of IMF.

5. In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President appointed Shri Songkhupchung Serto, to be an Additional Judge of the Manipur High Court for a period of two years.

6. Tamil film and TV serial actor R Selvakumar died. He was 59.

7. India and the US have launched the Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship, in a new initiative to advance bilateral cooperation on climate change that will enable Indian research scholars to work with American institutions in the field.

8. South Korea and the US carried out their largest-ever landing drill in the port city of Pohang.

9. Public sector lender Andhra Bank announced its tie-up with mobile payment app Chillr, to allow its customers transfer money to any contact on their phonebook instantly.
