1. Senior IPS officer Archana Ramasundaram has been appointed Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the first woman to head a paramilitary force.


2. Shri Suresh Prabhu Inaugurated and Launched Works Module of Indian Railways E-Procurement System (IREPS) and Implementation of e-Tendering in Works Contracts. This Portal will enable railways to implement e-governance in Works Contract with facilities like creation and publication of tenders online, enable tenderers to view tenders, submit their requisite amount and bid offers online.
3. Google’s parent company, Alphabet overtakes Apple as the most valuable company in the world. Alphabet left Apple behind in terms of market capitalisation.
4. The Reserve Bank of India has kept the policy rates unchanged in its sixth bi-monthly monetary policy. RBI left the key repo rate unchanged at 6.75 percent and CRR at 4 percent.
5. Saroj Kumar Jha has been appointed to a key position in the World Bank. Jha till last week was World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia. Jha assumed the position of Senior Director for the Fragility, Conflict and Violence Group at the World Bank.

8. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has entered into two bilateral Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with United Kingdom. With this signing, CBDT has concluded three bilateral APAs.
9. Chinese authorities have named an asteroid after scientist Tu Youyou who won the 2015 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for her work with artemisinin, which is now widely used to fight malaria.

11. Bangladesh Cabinet approved the draft of a proposed Citizenship Law, 2016 that was framed by amalgamating two existing laws and expanding scopes for dual citizenship for expatriate Bangladeshi nationals.
12. The World Bank has approved loans of 100 million US dollars to north China's Hebei Province to help build a clean energy heating system.
