India seeks Blue Flag eco-label for its eight beaches, launches its own tag ‘BEAMS’ for clean beach

  • A national jury, composed of environmentalists and scientists, has recommended India’s eight beaches for consideration by international jury for the coveted International eco-label, the Blue Flag certification.
  • The Blue Flag beaches are considered the cleanest beaches of the world.
  • The eight beaches are Shivrajpur in Gujarat, Ghoghla in Daman & Diu, Kasarkod and Padubidri beach in Karnataka, Kappad in Kerala, Rushikonda in Andhra Pradesh, Golden beach of Odisha and Radhanagar beach of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
  • Total 4664 beaches, marinas and boats from 46 countries have, so far, got the Blue Flag certification by international jury. Spain has the highest number of Blue Flag tagged sites. There is none from India.
  • On the eve of International Coastal Clean-Up Day which is celebrated across 100 countries since 1986, India launched its own eco-label “BEAMS” (Beach Environment & Aesthetics Management Services) under its Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) project.
  • The objective of BEAMS program is to abate pollution in coastal waters, promote sustainable development of beach facilities, protect & conserve coastal ecosystems & natural resources, and seriously challenge local authorities & stakeholders to strive and maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene & safety for beachgoers in accordance with coastal environment & regulations. This program promotes beach recreation in absolute harmony with nature.

World Patient Safety Day: 17 September

  • Recognizing patient safety as a global health priority, all 194 WHO Member States at the 72nd World Health Assembly, in May 2019, endorsed the establishment of World Patient Safety Day (Resolution WHA72.6), to be marked annually on 17 September.
  • The objectives of World Patient Safety Day are to increase public awareness and engagement, enhance global understanding, and spur global solidarity and action to promote patient safety

PM Modi to dedicate historic Kosi Rail Mahasetu to the Nation

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi shall dedicate to the nation the historic Kosi Rail Mahasetu (mega bridge) to the Nation through video-conference.
  • Apart from this the Prime Minister shall also inaugurate 12 rail projects related to passenger facilities for the benefit of the Bihar State. These include a new railway bridge on the Kiul River, two new railway lines, 5 Electrification projects, one Electric Locomotive Shed and 3rd Line Project between Barh-Bakhtiyarpur.
  • In 1887, a meter gauge link was built in between Nirmali and Bhaptiahi (Saraigarh). During the heavy flood and severe Indo Nepal earthquake in 1934, the rail link was washed away and thereafter due to meandering nature of river Kosi no attempt was made to restore this Rail link for long period.
  • The Kosi Mega Bridge line project was sanctioned by Government of India during 2003-04. The Kosi Rail Mahasetu is 1.9 KM long and its construction cost is 516 Crore. This bridge is of strategic importance along the India-Nepal border. The project was completed during the COVID-Pandemic where the migrant labour also participated in its completion.

Parliament passes Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda Bill 2020

  • The Bill was earlier passed in Lok Sabha on 19th March, 2020. This paves the way to establish a state-of-the-art Ayurvedic institution called the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) at Jamnagar, Gujarat, and to confer the status of Institution of National Importance (INI) to it.
  • The ITRA is sought to be established by conglomerating the presently existing Ayurveda institutes at Gujarat Ayurved University campus Jamnagar. This is a cluster of highly reputed institutions, namely, (a) Institute for Post Graduate Teaching and Research in Ayurveda, (b) Shree GulabKunverba Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, and (c) Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical sciences, (d) MaharshiPatanjali Institute for Yoga Naturopathy Education & Research (to be made part of the Department of Swasthvritta of the proposed ITRA). These institutions had come up over the past many decades, and together made a unique family of Ayurveda institutions existing in close proximity.
  • ITRA will be the first institution with INI status in the AYUSH Sector, and this will enable the institution to be independent and innovative in the matter deciding course content and pedagogy. The decision comes at a time when global interest in health solutions based on traditional wisdom is at an unprecedentedly high level and ITRA is poised to take Ayurveda education to new vistas.

Israel, U.A.E. and Bahrain Sign Accords, With an Eager Trump Playing Host

  • Israel and two Arab nations signed agreements at the White House to normalize their relations, a step toward a realignment of the Middle East but one that failed to address the future of the Palestinians.
  • President Trump presided over a South Lawn ceremony where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and the foreign ministers of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates signed a general declaration of principles the White House has named the Abraham Accords, after the biblical father of three monotheistic religions, as well individual agreements between Israel and the two Arab states.
  • The texts of the agreements detail how the three countries will open embassies and establish other new diplomatic and economic ties, including tourism, technology and energy. Israel and the Emirates are beginning commercial air travel between their countries for the first time, and Bahrain has opened its airspace for those flights.

Cabinet approves establishment of new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Darbhanga, Bihar

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has approved establishment of a new All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Darbhanga, Bihar. This will be established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
  • The total cost will be 1264 crore and is likely to be completed within a period of 48 months from the date of the approval of Government of India.
  • The premier medical institute will add 100 undergraduate (MBBS) seats, 60 B.Sc. (Nursing) seats and will have 15-20 Super Specialty Departments and 750 hospital beds.
  • The new hospital is expected to bridge the gaps between tertiary health-care infrastructure and facilities for quality medical education in the state and adjoining areas.

Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor gets nod from cabinet

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the 121-km Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor, which will connect Palwal and Sonipat, and decongest the national capital region.
  • The project will provide rail connectivity to all routes originating from Delhi and passing through Haryana, while bypassing the national capital. It will make train travel faster from Gurugram and industrial regions in Haryana, including Manesar, Sohna, Farukhnagar, Kharkhauda and Sonipat.
  • The project will be implemented by Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corp. Ltd, a joint venture between the railway ministry and the Haryana government, and is expected to be complete in five years at an estimated cost of5,617 crore.
  • This rail line will start from Palwal and end at Harsana Kalan station (on Delhi-Ambala section). This will give connectivity en route to Patli station (on Delhi-Rewari line), Sultanpur station (on Garhi Harsaru-Farukhnagar Line) and Asaudha Station (on Delhi Rohtak line).

PM Garib Kalyan Package Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting COVID-19’ extended for another 6 months

  • The ‘Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package Insurance Scheme for Health Workers Fighting COVID-19’ was announced on 30 March 2020 for a period of 90 days. This was extended for a further period of 90 days i.e. up to 25th Sept, 2020.
  • The scheme has now been extended for another 180 days i.e. 6 months.
  • This Central Sector Scheme provides an insurance cover of Rs. 50 lakh to healthcare providers, including community health workers, who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and therefore at risk of being infected. It also includes accidental loss of life on account of contracting COVID-19.
  • The scheme also covers private hospital staff/ retired/volunteer/ local urban bodies/contract/daily wage/ ad-hoc/outsourced staff requisitioned by States/ Central hospitals/autonomous hospitals of Central/States/UTs, AIIMS & INIs/ hospitals of Central Ministries drafted for COVID-19 related responsibilities.

  • The International Day of Democracy is celebrated around the world on 15 September each year. It was established through a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly in 2007, encouraging governments to strengthen and consolidate democracy.

International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

  • September 16 was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer or World Ozone Day.
  • This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
  • The theme for 2020 is Ozone for life: 35 years of ozone layer protection.
  • It marks 35 years of the Vienna Convention.

PM to inaugurate, launch 7 urban infra projects worth Rs 541 crore in Bihar

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation of seven urban infrastructure projects worth Rs 541 crore in Bihar.
  • The seven projects include four related to water supply, two to sewerage treatment and one to riverfront development.
  • The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) under the urban development and housing department of the state will undertake these projects.
  • The Prime Minister inaugurated the sewerage treatment plants built under Namami Gange, at Beur and Karmalichak, in Patna Municipal Corporation. He also inaugurated the water supply projects built under AMRUT Mission in Siwan Municipal Council and Chapra Municipal Corporation that will help local residents get pure drinking water through the day.
  • He also laid the foundation stone of Munger and Jamalpur water supply schemes under the AMRUT Mission to enable locals to avail clean water through pipelines.

Govt launches Postage Stamp commemorating Mission Shakti’s success

  • A customized My Stamp on India’s First Anti Satellite Missile (A-SAT) was launched on the occasion of Engineers Day on September 15 in the presence of Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor (NSA). The stamp was released by Department of Posts.
  • On the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted an Anti-Satellite (A-SAT) missile test ‘Mission Shakti’ from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha on 27th March 2019.
  • DRDO developed A-SAT Missile successfully engaged an Indian orbiting target satellite in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) in a ‘Hit to Kill’ mode. The interceptor missile was a three-stage missile with two solid rocket boosters.
  • Tracking data from range sensors had confirmed that the mission met all its objectives. The entire effort was indigenous which demonstrated the Nation’s capability to develop such complex and critical missions. A number of industries also participated in the mission. With this success, India became fourth nation in the world to possess such capability.

PM Modi addresses the ‘Grih Pravesham’ event in Madhya Pradesh

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ‘Grih Pravesham’ event in Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing, where 75 Lakh Families were delivered pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Grameen (PMAY-G).
  • The work of 18 lakh houses has been completed throughout the country under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana-Gramin and among that 1.75 lakh houses completed in Madhya Pradesh itself.

PM Modi inaugurates 3 petroleum projects worth Rs 900cr in Bihar

  • Bihar is set to receive three key petroleum projects ahead of the Legislative Assembly polls, scheduled in October 2020.
  • Modi devoted to the nation three petroleum sector initiatives value about Rs 900 crore through video conferencing.
  • These projects that will help meet the demand for domestic cooking gas in the state include state-run Indian Oil Corporation’s 193-km long Durgapur-Banka section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipeline that will supply cooking gas for bottling at the new Banka plant in the state.
  • Apart from the pipeline and the bottling plant at Banka, PM Modi also dedicated state-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd’ LPG bottling plant at Harsidhi in East Champaran district through video conferencing.

  • World First Aid Day is observed on the second Saturday of September, every year.
  • The IFRC believes that first aid should be accessible to all including the most vulnerable, and should also be an integral part of a wider developmental approach.
  • First aid day is celebrated to raise public awareness of how first aid can save lives in everyday and crisis situations.
  • The theme of World First Aid Day 2020 is an annual campaign to promote the importance of first aid training in preventing injuries and saving lives.

Hindi Diwas being observed across the country

  • Hindi Diwas is being celebrated across the country on 14th sep. It was on this day in 1949 that the constituent assembly adopted Hindi written in Devanagari as the official language of the country. Today, Hindi is one of the widely spoken languages in the world and the first language of more than 520 million people.

Housing Ministry launches Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework 2.0

  • The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) launched the Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework (CSCAF) 2.0, along with the ‘Streets for People Challenge’ in a virtual event organised by the Smart Cities Mission.
  • The objective of CSCAF is to provide a roadmap for cities for combating Climate Change while planning and implementing their actions, including investments.
  • The framework has 28 indicators across five categories: (i) Energy and Green Buildings, (ii) Urban Planning, Green Cover and Biodiversity, (iii) Mobility and Air Quality, (iv) Water Management and (v) Waste Management.
  • The Climate Centre for Cities under National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) is supporting MoHUA in implementation of CSCAF.
  • Meanwhile, the Streets for People Challenge is the response to the need for making our cities more pedestrian friendly.
  • It aims to inspire cities to create walking-friendly and vibrant streets through quick, innovative, and low-cost measures.

Govt Sets up Empowered Group of Ministers Headed by Rajnath Singh to Oversee OFB’s Corporatisation

  • The government has constituted an Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to oversee the process of corporatisation of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).
  • The ministry stated that the EGoM will oversee and guide the entire process (of corporatisation), including transition support and redeployment plan of employees while safeguarding their wages and retirement benefits.
  • Others in the EGoM are Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar.

Govt enhances scholarship for students of J&K under Pragati, Saksham Scholarship Schemes to Rs 50,000

  • The Center government has enhanced scholarship amount for the students of J&K under “Pragati and Saksham Scholarship Schemes” from Rs. 5000 per annum to Rs.50,000 per annum from current academic year 2020-2021.

RRB NTPC Vacancy 2020: Zone & Post Wise Revised Vacancy List | Check Here

 Railway Recruitment Board has announced the notification for the engagement of various posts under the Non-Technical Popular Category(NTPC). Consequently, every year they had announced and recruited a lot of candidates for various levels of posts. Similarly, this time too they had announced a total of 35,277 vacancies in earlier. A lot of candidates have applied and eagerly prepared for the upcoming exam. As per the schedule, the Online Based Test has been conducted in September/October. But due to not confirming the recruiting agency, the exam getting delayed. But the board has taken a necessary steps to confirm the recruiting agency to conduct the recruitment drive. RRB NTPC Revised Vacancy 2020: Details

RRB has released the vacancies for the posts under Non Technical Popular Category. Earlier, the board has announced a total of 35,277 vacancies. But due to the cancellation of 69 vacancies the number of vacancies has been reduced and the revised vacancy list has been announced in the official site.

Cancellation details of RRB NTPC Vacancy 2019-20:

In continuation to the notice dated 20-04-2019 for the cancellation of 69 vacancies of Diesel Locomotive Woks(DLW), Varanasi and subsequent inclusion of 66 vacancies for the Visually Impaired (VI) candidates as per the statutory provisions, the vacancies as published in Annexure-B (Vacancy Table) of detailed Centralized Employment Notice CEN-01/2019 is revised in terms of the Para 1.10 of the CEN

There are only two features of revision of vacancies

(a) The vacancies of DLW have been reduced by 69 for various posts as notified vide notice dated 20-04-2019 and uploaded in the RRBs Websites.

(b) The vacancies for Visually Impaired (VI) candidates have been enhanced from 236 to 302.


Reason for the cancellation of RRB NTPC Vacancy 2019-20:

The work pattern has been changed in Diesel Locomotive Works Varanasi the RRB has cancelled a total of 69 vacancies. The following cancellation of vacancies in RRB Allahabad are treated as withdrawn from the Centralized Employment Notice(CEN 01/2019) which was issued on 28-02-2019.
