i. The hotel named 'Hostess' was launched by Kerala Tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran. A flagship project of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC). The hotel will come up within six months at the KTDC complex.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday said it would issue new Rs 100 banknotes "shortly". The new banknote of Rs 100 denomination will be of the Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, the central bank said. The new banknote of Rs 100 will be in the base colour of lavender and will have a motif of Rani Ki Vav - a heritage site located in Gujarat - on the reverse side. The existing banknotes of Rs 100, issued by the RBI in the earlier series, will continue to be legal tender.

Dear Students, the much-awaited results of SBI PO Prelims 2018 Examination were out yesterday and the candidates jumped out of their skin, having seen a huge rise in the cut-off. Google payment app 'Tez' launched : Important Highlights

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched Internet giant Google's free mobile wallet and payments app titled 'Tez' in India. Tez app will let users link up their phones to their bank accounts to pay for goods securely in physical stores and online.
Available for both Android and iOS users, the app also allows person-to-person money transfers with a new technology called Audio QR, which uses ultrasonic sounds to let you exchange money, bypassing any need for NFC.

National Sports Day 2017: 29 August 2017
National Sports Day in India is celebrated on August 29, the birthday of Dhyan Chand, one of the greatest field hockey players of all time. Dhyan Chand won gold medals for India in Olympics in the years 1928,1932 and 1936. National Sports Awards such as Arjuna and Khel Ratna are conferred on selected athletes by the President of India every year, on this day. The National Hockey stadium in Delhi was renamed as Dhyan Chand National Stadium in 2002. The National Sports Day celebrations are a commemoration of his achievements. The day is also known as Rashtriya Khel Divas. The Major Dyanchand Awards conferred on athletes is the highest award for lifetime achievement in sports and games in India.

New Rs 50 note photo leaked? Have a look


Last year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in December had said that it will soon be coming up with new currency notes of Rs 50 and Rs 20 denominations with numerals in ascending size in the number panels and without intaglio printing. Since then, there was no official word on these notes and the buzz around them had died until today, when pictures of the yet-to-be-unveiled note of Rs 50 denomination came out on social media, according to The Indian Express. The notes are pale turquoise in colour, quite different from the notes of the same denomination that are currently in circulation.

US Senate confirms Christopher Wray as FBI Director
The US Senate has confirmed the appointment of Christopher Wray as the Director of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Wray was elected to the post by winning 92-5 votes of the Senate. 
With this, Wray succeeds James Comey, who was unexpectedly fired by President Donald Trump in May 2017 in the midst of the investigation into Russian meddling in US Presidential Elections 2016.
Since then, Andrew McCabe has been serving as acting FBI director. Wray, a former high-ranking official in President George W Bush’s Justice Department who oversaw investigations into corporate fraud, takes over the FBI at such a challenging tme when Trump expelled Comey, who was admired within FBI.
