World Toilet Day- Nov 19

  • World Toilet Day is an official United Nations International observance day on 19 November to inspire action to tackle the global sanitation crisis.
  • Worldwide, 4.2 billion people live without “safely managed sanitation” and around 673 million people practice open defecation
  • World Toilet Day 2021 theme: “valuing toilets”.
  • The day is observed to inform, engage and inspire people to take action toward achieving the goal of improving sanitation and aims to “Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
  • The World Toilet Day was firstly observed on 19th November 2012 established by the World Toilet Organization in 2001 also the inaugural World Toilet Summit was held on the same day and Twelve years later, in 2013, the UN General Assembly declared World Toilet Day an official UN day.

International Day for Tolerance- Nov 16                                                       

  • The United Nations observes “International Day for Tolerance” on 16th November every year.
  • The United Nations is committed to strengthening tolerance by fostering mutual understanding among cultures and peoples.
  • The objective behind celebrating the day is to create public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. UNESCO created a prize for the promotion of tolerance and non-violence to mark the United Nations Year for Tolerance in 1995 and the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.
  • The UN General Assembly in 1996 by resolution 51/95 invited the UN Member States to observe the International Day for Tolerance on 16 November.

Home Minister has launched ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ health card to provide health care services to all CAPF personnel

  • Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme health cards at the national level in New Delhi.
  • The home minister has launched the scheme by handing over the Ayushmaan card to personnel.
  • He also handed over ‘Ayushmaan CAPF’ Scheme health cards to the Director General, National Security Guard, NSG for distribution to NSG personnel.
  • The CAPFs should take care of security of the country without any worries and Narendra Modi Government will take care of their families, and the scheme has been designed to cover all serving personnel and their dependents of the seven Central Armed Police Forces.

India, Israel has agreed to form task force to identify new areas of defence cooperation

  • India-Israel Joint Working Group on Bilateral Defence Cooperation has agreed to form a Task Force to formulate a comprehensive Ten-Year Roadmap to identify new areas of cooperation.
  • This was decided at the 15th Joint Working Group meeting held in Tel Aviv, Israel.   The meeting was co-chaired by Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar and the Director General of the Israel’s Ministry of Defence, Major General (Retd) Amir Eshel.

CCEA approves fixation of nutrient based subsidy rates for Phosphatic & Potassic fertilizers- 2022

  • Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the proposal of the Department of Fertilizers for fixation of Nutrient Based Subsidy Rates for Phosphatic and Potassic fertilisers (P&K) for the year 2021-22.
  • The approved rate for Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) in case of Nitrogen has been fixed at 789 rupees per kilogram, for Phosphorus it is 45.323 rupees per Kg, for Potash 10.116 rupees per Kg and 2.374 rupees per Kilogram for Sulphur.
