Ministry of Civil Aviation tableau named best ministry tableau for Republic Day 2022:
- Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) tableau is selected as the best central ministry tableau for Republic Day 2022.
- The tableau of Ministry of Civil Aviation showcased Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) and the rich dividends it has been yielding. Conceptualized by the Ministry and implemented by AAI, the scheme has the objective of enhancing regional connectivity in an economically sustainable and affordable manner.
- Launched in 2016, UDAN scheme aims to fulfil the aspirations of the common man by following the vision of Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik with an enhanced aviation infrastructure and air connectivity in tier II and III cities.
- In a short span of 5 years, 403 UDAN routes connect 65 underserved/unserved airports, including heliports and water aerodromes, and over 80 lakh people have benefited from it.
- UDAN scheme has immensely benefitted several sectors pan-India including Hilly States, North-Eastern region and Islands.
India’s unemployment rate declines to 6.57% in January:
- India’s unemployment rate is currently at 6.57 per cent but during the second wave of the COVID-19, the unemployment rate reached 11.84 per cent in the month of May 2021.
- The current declining trend in unemployment data is showing a considerable good future ahead in terms of employment.
- According to data from the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the monthly unemployment rate in May 2021 was 14.7 per cent.
- The current urban unemployment rate has come down 6.54 percentage points from 14.7 per cent in May 2021 to 8.16 per cent in January 2022.
- Rural India has also seen a decline in the unemployment rate.
- By the end of January 2022, this rate has come down to 5.84 per cent as compared to 10.55 per cent in May 2021.
- Telangana recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 0.7 per cent in January, followed by Gujarat (1.2 per cent), Meghalaya (1.5 per cent) and Odisha (1.8 per cent).
- However, Haryana had the highest unemployment rate, followed by Rajasthan.
Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram Scheme for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26 with budget allocation of Rs. 2,710.65 Crore:
- The Government has decided to continue the Scheme of Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram over the 15th Finance Commission Cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26) at an outlay of Rs 2,710.65 Crore.
- The Union Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, thanked the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for approving the continuation of the Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram (RYSK) Scheme.
- The RYSK Scheme is the flagship Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
- The Scheme beneficiaries are the youth in the age-group of 15-29 years, in line with the definition of youth in the National Youth Policy, 2014.
- In case of programme components specifically meant for the adolescents, the beneficiaries are in the age-group of 10-19 years.
Khadi Emporium at DN Singh Road in Mumbai Banned by KVIC for Selling Fake Khadi Products:
- Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), which, in the recent years, has adopted zero tolerance against the sale of spurious/non-Khadi products, has cancelled the Khadi Certification to its oldest Khadi Institution named Mumbai Khadi & Village Industries Association (MKVIA).
- It was running the prestigious Khadi Emporium at Metropolitan Insurance House, a heritage building, located at DR D.N. Singh Road in Mumbai since 1954.
- During routine inspection, KVIC officials collected samples from the Emporium that were found to be non-Khadi products. KVIC issued a legal notice to MKVIA for flouting the norms of Khadi Certificate and Khadi Mark Certificate issued by the Commission.
- With cancellation of the registration, Khadi Emporium ceases to be a genuine Khadi Outlet and is no longer permitted to sell Khadi products from the Emporium.
- KVIC is also contemplating legal action against the MKVIA for criminal breach of trust and cheating public at large by misusing the credibility and popularity of brand Khadi.

Rahul Gandhi launches welfare scheme for landless laborers in Chhattisgarh
- Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi launched a financial assistance scheme Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana at a function organized in Science College Ground in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur for landless laborers of rural areas.
- Nearly 3.55 lakh landless families of laborers, barbers, blacksmiths, priests, forest produce collectors and shepherds, among others, will benefit from the first-of-its-kind scheme in the country for which the state government had made a provision of Rs 200 crore in the budget for the financial year 2021-22.
- The Lok Sabha MP also launched ‘Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club’ scheme’ at the function and distributed financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to its beneficiaries.
- Under the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Bhoomihin Krishi Majdoor Nyay Yojana’, registered laborers in rural areas who do not possess agricultural land will be given financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year in three installments.
- The first installment of Rs 2,000 was disbursed to beneficiaries at the function.
- The Rajiv Yuva Mitan Club scheme is aimed at connecting young people of the state with creative works, developing leadership skills, and making them aware of their social responsibilities.
- Under the scheme, 13,269 clubs will be formed in panchayats and urban civic bodies. People in the age group of 15 to 40 years will be part of these clubs.
- These clubs will get aid of Rs 1 lakh per year in four installments for various activities.
- On the occasion, Gandhi laid the foundation stones of a memorial with an eternal flame to be built here at the 4th battalion of Chhattisgarh Armed Force for soldiers and security personnel martyred in the line of duty as well as of ‘Gandhi Sevagram’ ashram in Nava Raipur, the upcoming capital city of the state.

Uttar Pradesh Selected As Best State Tableau Of Republic Day Parade 2022; Maharashtra Wins In Popular Choice Award
- Uttar Pradesh has been selected as the best state tableau at the 73rd Republic Day parade 2022 and the Indian Navy marching contingent has been adjudged as the best marching contingent among the three Services.
- Three panels of judges were appointed for assessing the performance of the marching contingents from the three Services, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), other Auxiliary forces and tableaux from various states and Union Territories (UTs) and Central Ministries and Departments.
- The tableau of Uttar Pradesh was selected as the best tableau among the 12 states/UTs.
- The tableau of Uttar Pradesh was based on the theme ‘One District One Product’ and ‘Kashi Vishwanath Dham’.
- The second place went to Karnataka for its tableau based on ‘Cradle of Traditional Handicrafts’. The third position went to Meghalaya for its tableau on ‘Meghalaya’s 50 years of Statehood and its tribute to women-led cooperative societies & SHGs’.
- The tableaux of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Civil Aviation have been declared as the joint winners in the category of Central Ministries and Departments.
- The theme of the tableau of the Ministry of Education & Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship was ‘National Education Policy’, while the tableau of the Ministry of Civil Aviation was based on the theme ‘Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik’.
- Nine tableaux of Central Ministries and Departments had participated in the parade.
- The tableaux of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (CPWD), based on the theme ‘Subhash @125’ and the ‘Vande Bharatam‘ dance group have been selected for the special prize category.
- The tableau of the Ministry of Communication and Department of Posts was adjudged as the best tableau among Central Ministries/Departments based on people’s selection & the theme of this tableau was ‘India Post: 75 years @ Resolve – Women Empowerment’.
- In addition, for the first time, the general public was invited to vote for the best marching contingents and best tableaux in the popular choice category through the MyGov platform.
- The online poll was conducted between January 25-31, 2022.
- Maharashtra was voted as the best tableau among the States/UTs in the popular choice category & the tableau of Maharashtra was based on the theme ‘Biodiversity and State Bio-symbols of Maharashtra’.
- The second place went to Uttar Pradesh (popular choice), while the tableau of Jammu and Kashmir, on the theme ‘Changing face of Jammu & Kashmir’, finished third.

Karnataka signs MoU with Ather Energy to establish 1000 fast-charging stations for electric two-wheelers
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between electric two-wheeler maker Ather Energy and Electric Supply Companies (ESCOMs) of Karnataka for setting up 1,000 fast charging stations across the state.
- ESCOMs would be the nodal agency to provide all technical support and government agencies would coordinate with the ESCOMs to share their available spaces for the charging stations.
- Meanwhile, Ather Energy will provide free-charging services for the electric two-wheeler vehicles.
- The MoU was signed by Managing Director, CEO, co-founder of Ather Energy Tarun Mehta and Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) Managing Director Rajendra Cholan at the CMO office.

Ministry of Finance releases PDRD Grant of 9,871 crore rupees to 17 States:
- Ministry of Finance has released the monthly Post Devolution Revenue Deficit (PDRD) Grant of 9 thousand 871 crore rupees to 17 States.
- This was the 11th installment of the PDRD grant released to the States.
- Ministry of Finance said that the grants are released to the States as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission to meet the gap in Revenue Accounts of the States post-devolution.
- The Commission has recommended PDRD grants to 17 States and the same being released in equal monthly installments.
- The Fifteenth Finance Commission has recommended a total Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant of one lakh 18 thousand 452 crore rupees to 17 States in the financial year 2021-22.
- An amount of over one lakh 8 thousand crore rupees has been released to the eligible States so far.

Delhi: PWD decides to dedicate a long stretch named Olympics Boulevard to honour the champions:
- To celebrate India’s success at Olympics and Para Olympics 2021 and to honour the champions, the Public Works Department (PWD) Delhi, has decided to dedicate a long stretch in North Delhi.
- The sports-themed stretch, the first of its kind, will be redeveloped and redesigned and named Olympics Boulevard.
- Olympic champions like Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Ravi Dahiya, and others, will be honored at this stretch with statues and sculptures.

Producer-actor Ramesh Deo passes away:
- Prominent Film personality Ramesh Deo, known for playing a diverse range of roles, in Marathi and Hindi movies, passed away at Mumbais Kokilaben Ambani Hospital due to a heart attack.
- The actor, who is survived by his actor-wife Seema Deo as well as sons Ajinkya Deo and Abhinay Deo, had celebrated his 93rd birthday on January 30.
- The evergreen Marathi actor is known for playing notable roles in 1956 Andhala Magto Ek Dola and 1971 cult classic Anand, 1962 Aarti, 1974
- Deo, who made his acting debut in the form of a cameo in the 1951 Marathi film Paatlaachi Por has worked in more than 200 Hindi films, 100 Marathi films and several Marathi dramas with over 200 showings in his long career.
- He also produced feature films, television serials and several ad films.
- In January 2013, the Nivdung actor received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 11th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF).
