Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 winners list has announced!! The names of the Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 winners list were announced by the National Akademi of Letters during the opening day of its annual ‘Festival of Letters’ event. Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 winners list include 20 writers in different languages. Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honour in India. It is a dream for all Indian writers to look forward to one of the prestigious literary awards. Sahitya Akademi Award is one of the best literary awards after the Jnanpith Award. The work will then be translated into other regional languages so that there is a wider reach out to the audiences. The literary work has reached all over India and has gained huge recognition.
The political-writer M Veerappa Moily, poet Arundhathi Subramaniam will be bestowed with the Sahitya Akademi Award 2020. The Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 winners’ list includes seven books of poetry, four novels, five short stories, two plays, and one each of memoirs and epic poetry in 20 Indian languages. The awards for Malayalam, Nepali, Odia and Rajasthani will be announced later.

The Akademi is run by three authorities
The Akademi is known for holding the largest library of multi-lingual books in India. The Sahitya Akademi is autonomous. It comes under the Ministry of Culture.
Sahitya Akademi Award 2020 winners will be bestowed with the award in the form of a casket, containing the engraved copper-plaque, a shawl and a cash amount of Rs. 1,00,000/- at the Sahitya Akademi Award Presentation function.
Sahitya Akademi Award Entry Criteria
The books were selected on the basis of the recommendations made by a Jury of three members in the concerned languages in accordance with the procedures laid down for the purpose. According to the procedure, the Executive Board has declared the Awards on the basis of the unanimous selection made by the Jurors or on the basis of a majority vote.
For winning the award, the author can present a work of translation, an anthology, compilation, research work, work of an author who was awarded another literary prize (earlier) or won the Bhashan Samman/fellow of Sahitya Akademi/work of an executive board member of the Akademi.
It should be a fresh collection of writing( which could have been published earlier or in the revised editions).
Works that may be incomplete but the book is complete in itself as well as a posthumous publication are all eligible for this prestigious literary award.
It has to be noted who is part of the board, and the Akademi isn’t allowed to canvas for their works when the selection is being down, which can get them disqualified.
