• Every year on 18th June, Autistic Pride Day is being observed to recognises the importance of pride for autistics and understands it not as a disease but as a difference. 
• ‘Autism Spectrum Disability’ is a range of complex neurodevelopment disorders characterized by social impairments, communication difficulties, restrictive and repetitive pattern of behaviour. 
• It is a lifelong condition which usually occurs in the first three years of life.





• Former president of Egypt ‘Mohammed Morsi’(67-years) passed away after collapsing during a session in court. 
• Morsi was on trial for espionage and had just addressed the court when he blacked out. 
• He was country's first democratically elected president and a member of Egypt's most powerful Islamist group, the now-banned Muslim Brotherhood. 
• Morsi had been in custody since his removal by the military after mass protests in 2013.




Abhinav Bindra has been appointed as an independent person by the World Archery to sort out the ongoing mess in the Archery Association of India (AAI).

The suspension would prevent Indian archers from participating at any world event, including the Asian Archery Championships, an Olympic qualifying event.


• Assam government will set up a ‘Skill University’ at the cost of 850 crore rupees at Darrang district in the state. 
• According to Mission Director of Assam Skill Development Mission, AP Tiwari, 80% seats will be reserved for Assam and rest 20% for other North Eastern states. 
• This will be perhaps the first skill university of the country with a capacity of 10 thousand seats. 
• The admission test for the first batch of the North East Skill Centre will be held on 30th June 2019.





Senior bureaucrat Shefali Juneja has been appointed as India’s representative in the Council of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), a United Nations body. 
She will replace the senior IAS officer Alok Shekhar. 
Shefali Juneja is serving as the Joint Secretary in Ministry of Civil Aviation.






Karnataka's Girish A. Koushik (22-years) has become India’s 63rd Grandmaster at the 37th Balaton International Chess Festival in Hungary. 
He is the only Indian chess player to have won gold medals at the Asian U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 age-group categories. 
World popular Chess player Mr. Viswanathan Anand was the first Grandmaster in India. 
Grandmaster (GM) is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organization FIDE.





PM Narendra Modi has reappointed IPS (Retd) (Kerala cadre-1968) Ajit Doval as National Security Advisor (NSA) for five-year term.
Brajesh Mishra (Indian Foreign Service office) was appointed the first National Security Adviser of India (in November 1998).

The National Security Adviser (NSA) is the senior official on the National Security Council (NSC) of India, and the chief adviser to the Prime Minister of India on national and international security policy.




The first tourist train travelling through Russia's Arctic region and on to Norway set off from St. Petersburg station (Russia) with 91 passengers aboard for the inaugural trial journey.

The train, named, Zarengold, complete with two restaurant cars will travel from Saint Petersburg through according to the organisers.




The Medical & Health Department of the Rajasthan government has received the ‘World No Tobacco Day Award 2019’ in New Delhi from the World Health Organization (WHO) in recognition of its achievements in the field of tobacco control.





• WHO offers a new tool “AWaRe” to contain rising antimicrobial resistance and make antibiotic use safer and more effective.
• WHO has launched a global campaign that urges countries to adopt its new online tool called AWaRe.
• The campaign aims to achieve a 60 per cent increase in the use of antibiotics under the Access group cheap, ‘narrow-spectrum’ drugs (that target a specific microorganism rather than several) and also lower the risk of resistance.
• It also reduces the use of the antibiotics most at risk of resistance from the Watch and Reserve groups.
AWaRe tool - The tool aimed at guiding policy-makers and health workers to use antibiotics safely and more effectively. It’s another objective is to limit drugs that are at risk of resistance.
The tool, known as ‘AWaRe’, classifies antibiotics into three groups:
• Access — antibiotics used to treat the most common and serious infections
• Watch — antibiotics available at all times in the healthcare system

• Reserve — antibiotics to be used sparingly or preserved and used only as a last resort.





Chairperson of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Sonia Gandhi Elected Leader of Congress Parliamentary Party.She has been elected as the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party at a meeting of the newly-elected Congress Lok Sabha MPs in New Delhi.




N Gopalaswami has been appointed as the BCCI’s electoral officer.He will supervise the elections of the BCCI and the Indian Cricketers Association.




According to Credit rating agency ‘Fitch’, India’s growth forecast from 6.8% to 6.6% for the current fiscal as the manufacturing and agriculture sectors showed signs of slowing down over the past year. 
• In its latest Global Economic Outlook, the global rating agency retained its GDP growth forecast for the next fiscal (2020-21) at 7.1 per cent and 7.0 per cent for 2021-22. 
Note: 
• Fitch Ratings Inc. is one of the big three credit rating agencies (other two -Moody's and Standard & Poor's). 
• It is one of the three nationally recognized statistical rating organizations (NRSRO) designated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 1975. 
• Fitch Ratings is dual headquartered in New York (US) and London (UK).






On June 14, a robot named Bumble became the first Astrobee robot to fly under its own power in space. 

Astrobee is a free-flying robot system that will help researchers test new technologies in zero gravity and perform routine work alongside astronauts aboard the International Space Station. 

Robots that can operate on their own in space, such as Astrobee, can be caretakers for NASA's lunar gateway and will play a significant part in NASA’s future missions to explore the Moon and Mars.

Note:
Bumble and a second Astrobee, “Honey,” launched to the space station in April. A third robot named “Queen” is scheduled to launch in July.





Ministry of Shipping and IIT Kharagpur has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for setting up the Centre for Inland and Coastal Maritime Technology.
The Centre will focus on indigenisation of ship designing, building and testing.

Currently, only Germany, the Netherlands, Russia and Belgium have model testing facilities for ships.




• Policyholders can now approach the insurance Ombudsman if their insurer does not respond within one month of receipt of the complaint for claims of up to Rs.30 lakh. So far, Ombudsman could only award claims of up to Rs.20 lakh. 
• The Insurance Ombudsman scheme was created by the Government of India for individual policyholders to have their complaints settled out of the courts system in a cost-effective, efficient and impartial way. 
• There are at present 17 Insurance Ombudsman in - in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pun , Patna and Noida. 
• Insurance Ombudsman means a person to whom customers can approach for redress of their grievances. 
• The ombudsman shall pass an award within a period of three months from the receipt of the complaint. The awards are binding upon the insurance companies. 
• If the policy holder is not satisfied with the award of the Ombudsman he can approach other venues like Consumer Forums and Courts of law for redressal of his grievances. 
• If the insurance company doesn’t respond to a complaint within 30 days or if the policyholder is not satisfied with the response, policyholders can approach the insurance 
Note: 
Value of Claim – 
• The value of the claim including expenses claimed is not above Rs 30 lakhs
• Time limit for Compliance of Award by Insurers - The Insurer shall comply with the Award within 30 days from the date of receipt of the Award and intimate of its compliance to the Insurance Ombudsman.

• The Executive Council of Insurers, previously known as Governing Body of Insurance Council (GBIC) has been established under the Insurance Ombudsman Rules, 2017, to set-up and facilitate the Institution of Insurance Ombudsman in India.







The United Nations’ (UN) International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is being observed every year on 26th June to raise awareness about the major problem that illicit drugs represent to society. 
This year the theme is ‘Health for Justice, Justice for Health’, which highlights that justice and health are two sides of the same coin when it comes to addressing drug problems.







Australian Ashleigh Barty (23-years) has beaten Marketa Vondrousova in the 2019 French Open final to win her first Grand Slam singles title.

Ashleigh Barty won 6-1 6-3 against Czech teenager Vondrousova on the Paris clay.





World Bank has signed $147 Million Loan Agreement with the Government of India and the Government of Jharkhand for Jharkhand Municipal Development Project.






Japan Government has gifted to Imphal Peace Museum (Manipur) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Battle of Imphal.

The museum has been inaugurated to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Imphal.

The National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC Ltd) and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) have signed an agreement to set up National Electricity Distribution Company Limited (NEDCL).
As per the agreement National Electricity Distribution Company Limited (NEDCL) will be a joint venture of NTPC and PGCIL on 50:50 equity basis.

The National Electricity Distribution Company Limited (NEDCL) will undertake the business for distribution of electricity in distribution circles in various states/ Union Territories (UTs) and other related activities.




Pakistan's former Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar passed away.
Mr. Sattar served as the Foreign minister under then-president Pervez Musharraf government (from 1999 to 2002).

Sattar also served as the foreign secretary from 1986-88.
