NCTE invites applications for the four years Integrated Teacher Education Programme 2022-23:
- The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has invited online applications for the four years Integrated Teacher Education Programmes (ITEP) for the academic session 2023-24.
- The programme is a dual-major holistic bachelor’s degree offering B.A. B.Ed., B. Sc. B. Ed. and B.Com. B.Ed.
- It is one of the major mandates of the National Education Policy 2020 related to Teacher Education.
- The admission will be carried out by the National Testing Agency through the National Common Entrance Test.
- The four-year ITEP will be available for all students who choose to teach as a profession after secondary.

What is the news :
- Shri Vivek Johri, Chairman, Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), presented a set of Time Release Studies (TRS) conducted by the department.
What is Time releases study (TRS):
- TRS are essentially a performance measurement tool for assessing the cargo clearance process of the international trade, as recommended by the World Trade Organization (WTO) under the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and the World Customs Organization (WCO).
- It adopts average cargo release time, i.e. the time taken from the arrival of the cargo at the customs station to its eventual release for import or export, as the case may be.
National TRS 2022
- The National Time Release Study (NTRS) 2022 covered 15 major Customs formations, including four-port categories –
- Seaports,
- Air cargo complexes (ACCs),
- Inland container depot (ICDs) and
- Integrated check posts (ICPs)
- These four port categories handle about 80 percent of the bills of entry (imports documents) and 70 percent of the shipping bills (export documents).
- NTRS 2022 and the Custom House level Time Release Studies, have found strong affirmation for the four-fold ‘path to promptness’, namely:
- Advance filing of import documents enabling pre-arrival processing,
- Risk-based facilitation of cargo,
- Benefits of trusted client program – Authorized Economic Operators, and
- Direct Port Delivery (DPD) facility.
Key Findings of National TRS 2022
- The NTRS 2022 has reported further improvement in the average cargo release time for all the four port categories in 2022 over the corresponding period of the previous year-
- by 2 percent for ICPs to a significantly higher 16 percent for ACCs.
- For the sea cargo cleared through the seaport or inland container depots’ average release, the time has improved by 12 percent.
- With this improvement, the ICPs have achieved the National Trade Facilitation Action Plan (NTFAP) target release time to be achieved by 2023.
- In the case of Exports, the Study noted that the documentary clearance of export consignments has been significantly minimized, ranging from 4:04 hours in the case of ACCs to 47:41 hours in the case of ICDs.
- Documentary clearance of export consignments, measured by the time taken from the arrival of the goods at the customs station to grant of Let Export Order.
- NTRS 2022 and local TRSs have also made certain recommendations to further reduce the average release time targets to meet the targets set out in the NTFAP and improve the trade facilitative eco-system in the country.
How will the TRS benefit businesses involved in cross border trade?
- Creates favourable conditions for legitimate business to benefit from the implementation of trade facilitation measures or initiatives
- Improves transparency and predictability for the business community with regard to the clearance process, leading to better inventory management and just-in-time deliveries
- Reduces financial burden that businesses may face from possible inefficiencies caused in government clearances in the trade flow
- Enables business community to partner with Customs and other government agencies to improve trade flow process of cargo during import, export or transit, providing them with a better trading environment

- Every year on April 26th, International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of this historic nuclear accident.

- On April 26th, 1986, the worst nuclear accident in history took place.
- The horrific event occurred in Chernobyl, Ukraine.
- The radiation released into the air contaminated 150,000 square miles in three countries: Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus.

National Panchayati Raj Day- 24th April
- Every year, April 24 is observed as National Panchayati Raj Day (NPRD) by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj to celebrate the constitutional status accorded to the Panchayati Raj system in the country.
- The objective of celebrating the National Panchayati Raj Day is to increase awareness about Panchayats and Gram Sabhas, the institutions of the local self-governments for the rural areas mandated by the Constitution, and also about their roles, responsibilities, achievements, concerns, resolutions etc.

- Maharashtra government approved a joint venture between state-run MahaGenco and India’s largest power generator NTPC which will set up an ultra-mega solar power park with a total generation capacity of 2,500 MW.
- “National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (or its subsidiary) and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company (Mahagenco) will have a capital investment of 50:50, respectively, for the development of Ultramega Renewable Solar Park,” .
- The state energy department has been appointed as a nodal agency for project development.

- Union Bank of India on April 6 launched its super app, Union Nxt which focuses on providing pre-approved personal loans, pensioner loans, Mudra loans, MSME loan auto-renewal services, and farmer loans auto-renewal services to customers.
- Union bank also lauches digital transformation project SMBHAV with an investment outlay of around Rs 1,000 crore for the current financial year 2022-23 (FY23)
- The bank is looking to invest nearly Rs 1,000 crore in building and upgrading its digital technology in the present fiscal, as per the bank’s management.
- It has tied up with over a dozen fintechs to upgrade its digital offerings, the bank’s management told reporters.
- “Large part of this investment will go into building a digital architecture which will be open and modular. On top of this, we will be building a digital lending platform so some part of this investment will go there, and simultaneously our mobile platform will also get updated and another part will be the data analytics,” said Nilesh Ranjan, executive director of the bank.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the initiative on April 8, 2015, with the goal of granting loans up to ten lakh rupees to non-corporate, non-farm small, or micro-enterprises.
- Since the inception of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, more than 34 crore 42 lakh loans worth 18.60 lakh crore rupees have been sanctioned as per the official statement.
- Women Entrepreneurs have received around 68 percent of the total number of loans approved.
- New Entrepreneurs have received nearly 22 percent of the loans.
