State Bank of Sikkim under RBI for its regulatory purview:

The Reserve Bank Of India, India’s central bank, responsible for the issue and supply of the Indian rupee and the regulation of the Indian banking system. The State Bank of Sikkim under RBI for its regulatory purview on February 22, 2021. The bank of Sikkim, established five years before Sikkim acceded to India in 1973, provides treasury operations for the state government. The bank currently has 42 branch offices and operates three revenue counters for government works. The bank’s ownership structure will not change, but the State Bank of Sikkim under RBI is, regulated by the RBI on a par with other banks.

The world’s largest stadium Motera stadium renamed as Narendra Modi stadium by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind. It was announced during a ceremony ahead of the third Test between India and England. Motera Stadium renamed Narendra Modi stadium is situated in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It was a 1,10,000 seater stadium in Motera. It was Modi’s pet project during his time as chief minister of that state before he took over as head of the national government in 2014.

“This stadium was the dream of the prime minister and he had during his stint as chief minister here floated the idea of building the world’s largest stadium,” Home Minister Amit Shah said at the event Motera stadium renamed as Narendra Modi stadium. The $100m, perfectly round venue, with seats in the blue and saffron of the Indian team, promises unobstructed views from every angle.

 World Air Quality Report 2020 India Rank: According to the World Air Quality Report released by IQ Air (Swiss Air Technology Company), Delhi is the most polluted Capital city Globally for the 3rd Consecutive time followed by Dhaka(Bangladesh) and Ulaan Baatar(Mongolia). World Air Quality Report 2020 India Rank is given below in this article. In the case of the world’s most polluted cities, Hotan of China came first followed by India’s Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) and Bulandshahr (Uttar Pradesh).  The rankings are based on the Annual average PM 2.5 (Particulate Matter) of the year 2020. It covered 106 countries.

According to the report, South and East Asian countries continue to be the most polluted locations in the world. 37 out of 40 most polluted cities in 2020 are in South Asia. ‘Two Mobile Medical Vans’ – Centre, Maharashtra Public Health Dept dedicate it to the nation

  • Public Health Department, Maharashtra and National Health Mission, government of India dedicated ‘Two air conditioned Mobile Medical Vans’ to the nation in Jalna district of Maharashtra.
  • The program was inaugurated by State Health Minister Rajesh Tope with a green flag.
  • Rs 20 lakh cost van will be used to provide health facilities and state-of-the-art clinics in remote areas of the district.
  • The van will provide information on health schemes of the Central and State Governments and all types of check-ups, obstetrics, other treatments etc.
  • Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that 20 districts have been selected under this national campaign and this will make it easier to implement the national health campaign in rural areas.
  • He further said that two air-conditioned vehicles have been provided for Jalna district, through which the poorer will be given 100 percent free treatment.
  • It has been ensured that 60 patients will be examined.
  • Daily efforts will be made to improve the quality of health services under the National Health Mission.

Parliament passes Finance Bill 2021 

  • Parliament has passed the Finance Bill, 2021 with the Rajya Sabha returning it to Lok Sabha.
  • With this, Parliament has completed all the budgetary exercise.
  • For tax exemption raised on interest earned on PF contribution from 2.5 lakh to 5 lakh rupees per annum
  • Replying to a discussion on the Finance Bill, 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the NDA rule has provided corruption free governance and brought Indian economy out of policy paralysis and fragile five.
  • She alleged that the economy was mismanaged under UPA rule and the Narendra Modi government had got a legacy of high inflation which has been checked.
  • Mrs Sitharaman also said NPA has brought down to around 8 lakh 99 thousand crore rupees by March 2020.
  • Talking about GST, the Minister said GST compensation due to states prior to COVID has all been paid.
  • She informed that 30 thousand crore rupees of GST compensation will be released to states this month.
  • She also elaborated several measures taken to provide relief to the common man during the COVI-19 pandemic.

WCD Ministry organises seminar with District Officers 

  • The Ministry of Women and Child Development organized a seminar with District Officers from Aspirational Districts and Districts with high rates of crime against women and children.
  • Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani addressed the seminar.
  • Later talking to reporters, Ms Irani said, during the seminar discussions were held on important umbrella schemes Poshan Abhiyaan, Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya. 
  • She said, discussions were also held on ways to provide mobile Creches in rural areas for women engaged in the construction and agriculture sector.
  • The Minister said, her Ministry is also considering integrating the Women and Child helplines for quick assistance to distressed women and children and also for better redressal of grievances.

India’s first-ever transgender community desk in Cyberabad

  • The Cyberabad Police launched India’s first-ever ‘Transgender Community Desk’ at the Gachibowli Police Station in Hyderabad. 
  • This desk is the first-of-its-kind gender-inclusive community policing initiatives in the country.
  • The desk was formally inaugurated by Cyberabad Police chief VC Sajjanar in a ceremony that was attended by over 200 transgender people. 
  • It is the world’s first-ever help desk for the transgender community and it will be managed by a Police Liaison Officer and a member of the transgender community who is designated as a community coordinator.
  • It will also be the focal point for all grievance redressal among the transgender community in Cyberabad Commissionerate.
  • Earlier in 2014, the Supreme Court recognised the transgender community as a third gender along with male and female and ruled that they have equal privilege over the fundamental rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

India Commemorates “Chabahar Day” on 04 March 2021

  • India commemorated the ‘Chabahar Day’ on March 04, 2021 on the sidelines of the Maritime India Summit-2021 which was held from March 2-4, 2021.
